Tell Your Story

The story of Margaret Mary Vojtko, an adjunct professor at Duquesne University, touched of a debate over what it is to be an adjunct professor. Though contingent faculty make up a majority of instructional faculty nationwide, they toil under difficult conditions — low pay, little job security, and little access to resources and professional development.

All adjuncts have stories — how you balance working at multiple schools, how you scramble to get enough classes each semester, how your pay is so low, it barely amounts to minimum wage.

Adjuncts know these stories, but the wider public isn’t necessarily aware of what it means to be an adjunct. Students and parents and colleagues only know you as “Professor”. Tell them what it’s like to be “Professor Staff.” Share your story now.

The Adjunct Action Network is built upon a movement started by adjuncts in every corner of the nation. By sharing your story here, you will inspire others to speak out, to join the fight, and to broaden awareness of the adjunct crisis. Every story told is a stepping stone toward equal pay, fair treatment, and better education for everyone.
